Spooky Greetings

Spooky Greetings Here's a quick card I made up over the weekend using the new release from My Favorite Things called Monster Squad.  Aren't those little trick-or-treaters cute?

I kinda' used the MFT weekly sketch for this.  I had already used the slit punch, eyelet and yellow twill ribbon on the upper left corner of the main panel, so I put the one piece from sketch underneath instead of on top, and eliminated the extra embellishment that the sketch called for.  This card is actually on it's way to a new stamping/blogging friend!  Hmmm... who could it be???  :)

Thanks for stopping by!

S'mores anyone?

We have some good friends that recently purchased a used pop-up camper, and they've decided that for their first camping adventure they're just going to go a little ways from home on Labor Day weekend.  They invited us to join them one evening for dinner, so I had been trying to think of some kind of "camper-warming" gift to take when we go to visit.  Well, the new Nature Calls and What's Your Sign stamp sets from My Favorite Things ended up being just the thing I needed to come up with my gift!

S'mores bag

Here is a gift bag filled with all the essentials for an evening around their campfire making S'mores!  What could be better for a "camper-warming" gift, and hopefully we'll get to eat S'mores, too!  YUM!

I stamped a row of trees across the bottom to match the card.  The trees are a little primitive-looking because the bag wouldn't lay flat, but hey... primitive is a part of camping, right?  (And a big reason why I don't like to go camping, if you know what I mean!)

For the card, I just made a card front, and we'll all sign the back.  I actually started working on the card last night and when I discovered Cindy's weekly sketch challenge in the My Favorite Things forum on SCS, I knew it would be perfect for my card!

Hopefully Don, Lisa and their kids will have many wonderful adventures in their "new" camper, and we'll all have some sticky, gooey-ness to help them enjoy it s'more!

Thanks for stopping by!

Stamp Simply - not today!

Just a reminder that the Stamp Simply challenge goes on today as usual, but I didn't get a sample made this week.  It's been crazy this week, and I never got time to make anything but Sharon has a beautiful sample on her blog with the challenge details, and the other team members have great samples for inspiration, too!  Be sure to check them out, and maybe I'll get the challenge done later tonight or this weekend!

Cupcake Goose

I took a stamping break last night and just spent the evening in front of the TV with my family.  We've gotten hooked lately on watching ER reruns that are broadcast on TNT everyday, so we were watching it on the DVR last night.

So today I'm sharing with you this card that I made a few weeks ago for Taylor's Dare to Get Dirty challenge over on SCS.  Her challenge was to make a card with cupcakes, and then I also used her cupcake sketch from her blog.

Have a great Friday!  I'm of to work in an hour, and hoping a package I've been expecting is waiting at the post office!  I also got a package yesterday from JustRite stampers, which I'm going to demo for customers on Tuesday at the store, plus I got new stamps yesterday from My Favorite Things so I'm really excited to have a day of getting inky today!

Sketches by Tamara #56

Card_56 Another week, and another great sketch challenge from Tamara!

I've loved these Inkadinkado birds ever since I saw them in the catalog, and then started seeing them on some other blogs and had to give in and order them!  What fun they are to color, too!Song birds

For the doodling around the edges on the sketch, I chose to do a zig-zag stitch on my sewing machine.  And I've had these chipboard accents from Maya Road forever, so I was determined to make them work for this sketch instead of doing photo corners.  I painted the chipboard with Ranger Distress Crackle Paint in Fired Brick, and then lightly sanded the edges after they were dry to distress.

My "thanksful" sentiment is another stamp from the new Vintage Words set from Kitchen Sink Stamps.  If you're looking for a great sentiment stamp set with words appropriate for cards or scrapbooking, then you really need this set.  It's perfect, and has such a fun and different font!

I hope you have time to give this sketch a try today!  Be sure to leave a link in the comments on Tamara's blog, and leave me one here too or send an email so I can see what you did, too!

Have a good one!

I wish...

IMG_9083 ... I was on a beach somewhere gazing at this lighthouse!

This is just a quick card I made up this morning for yesterday's color challenge on SCS, and today's sketch challenge.

This lighthouse image is from Great Impressions, and I colored it with my Copic markers.  The "WISH" sentiment is from a new Kitchen Sink Stamps set called Vintage Words.

Enjoy the rest of your day!  Thanks for stopping by!

Pink Cat Sneak Peeks, day 3

Lily catching butterfliesToday brings another day of sneak peeks for the latest releases from Pink Cat Studio!  I chose to do another card to show you more options with the Lily & Billy Accessories set!  Now even though these stamps are ideal for both Lily and Billy, you know I'm just partial to girls since the only boy in my house is my husband!  So I used my Lily stamps again today, and this time her kitty has joined her in catching some butterflies!

For this card, I chose to try something new for me... I stamped and decorated the inside of the card, too!  Anytime I make a card and show it to someone, the first thing they do is open it!  I have never been one to stamp the inside, so that always makes me crazy!  But I've seen a few inspirational samples around the net lately with the insides stamped so I decided to start trying to incorporate that into my cards for a more finished look!Lily catching butterflies (2)

Be ready with your pocketbook tomorrow to order these and the new Limitles Limbs stamps!  I'll have a new card to show you using Limitless Limbs, and also images of all the new stamps!

For more designs from the Pink Cat Team, check out the blog!

Hippy Birthday!

Hippy Birthday bag  OK, so I figured if I could make a pink giraffe the other day, I could make a blue hippo, right?  Every hippo I've ever seen is gray, but that would just look too dull with these bright colors!  She had to be blue... and yes, the hippo is a she!  You wouldn't catch a boy hippo with that bling on his patoot, would you?

My daughter has a birthday party to go to tomorrow.  Lucky kid has a Mom who works in a toy store, so the gift bag holds a gift certificate to the store!  This is just made from a white paper lunch sack.  I cut the top off so it's about 5 1/4" square.  Then cut 2 squares of cardstock 5 1/2" square, and then your layers as desired!  The ribbons are attached between layers with red line tape.  Easy-peasy!

Have a great Saturday everyone!  Happy stamping!

Pink Cat Design Team challenge!

Fabric challenge The Pink Cat Studio design team is having a challenge today to make a card using fabric within your design.  If you have time to play along, I'd love to see what you create!

I'm not much for putting fabric on a card, to tell the truth!  Every idea I had to just use a piece of fabric like I would designer paper was rejected because I didn't feel it would look neat enough.  So I opted to roughly cut a strip of this fabric from my sewing cabinet and use it as a bow.  I have no idea how long I've had this fabric... I think my daughter and I may have bought it intending it for a 4-H sewing project that never "materialized!"  Now that I've rediscovered it, I think I need to do more with it!  It's so pretty and tropical!

If you love Lily and Billy stamps from Pink Cat, be sure to check out the contest that's going on through Tuesday, August 5th!  You could win the soon-to-be-released stamps!  Check out the details on the Pink Cat blog!

Happy stamping!

Pinky!

Longing_Giraffe Here's another card I created for the Dare to Get Dirty challenges last week on SCS.  I still have 3 to do before tomorrow's deadline but seeing as I have to help with Bible School tonight, I think this may be it for me!

This card actually combines 2 challenges... one to use pink and black with faux stitching, and the other to make a card measuring 6 1/2" x 3 1/4" with a clear accent of some kind.  Well, what's a better image for a "tall" card than a tall giraffe?  Pinky the Giraffe!  LOL  Isn't she sweet?  I loaned this Melanie Muenchinger-designed set to a friend awhile ago and recently got it back and inked it up!  I thought a pink giraffe would be very stylish!

I colored the spots on her with my Cool Gray Copic markers, but when it came to using pink on her body, I decided to use my Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol instead.  I have several shades of pink Copics, none of which worked very well with this dotted paper I wanted to use.  I've seen Carolyn King combine Prismas and Copics quite often so I decided to give it a try!

I mentioned the need for faux stitching on this card for one challenge.  I stink at faux stitching!  I think I just prefer real stitching so much more, that faux never looks good to me.  So I limited the amount of it by stitching the photo corner!  And for the clear accent on this card for the other challenge, I used a Heidi Swapp ghost flower.  I just love those things!  I used to hoard the one package I had until I found another package on clearance at JoAnn's so I'm using them a little more often now!

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you've enjoyed meeting "Pinky!"  Have a great day!

Color Throwdown #4

B694 It's time for another week of the Color Throwdown and this week Cathy chose our color combo of Certainly Celery, Almost Amethyst and Basic Black.  I had to bum a piece of Amost Amethyst from my BSF Anita, and then I started this card over so many times I ruined it and had to switch to a Bazzill cardstock that was a similar shade!  LOL  (Sorry 'Nita!)

CTD4-Lavender

This is such a striking color combination, and I really hope you'll have time to play along today!  Be sure to post a comment with a direct link to your card back on the Color Throwdown blog so we can see your creation.  And remember if you upload to SCS, use the keywords CTD4.

Each of the Color Throwdown designers have a very unique take on these colors, so be sure to check out their creations, too!
