Spooky Greetings

Spooky Greetings Here's a quick card I made up over the weekend using the new release from My Favorite Things called Monster Squad.  Aren't those little trick-or-treaters cute?

I kinda' used the MFT weekly sketch for this.  I had already used the slit punch, eyelet and yellow twill ribbon on the upper left corner of the main panel, so I put the one piece from sketch underneath instead of on top, and eliminated the extra embellishment that the sketch called for.  This card is actually on it's way to a new stamping/blogging friend!  Hmmm... who could it be???  :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Sig

Color Throwdown #6

72f1 It's time for week #6 of the Color Throwdown!  Tracy has decided to make you work this week and picked not 3, not 4 but 5 colors to use!  (You can substitute Old Olive for Certainly Celery if you'd like!)  And by all means, if you do not have these actual Stampin' Up! colors, please just use whatever shades you have that are close!  We want everyone to have fun!  Be sure to leave a comment on the Color Throwdown blog with a direct link to your card so all the team members can see you creation!  We do our best to get comments left on all that participate but with summertime busy-ness we've maybe fallen short just a little lately!

Here's my card... CTD6

I ordered these Tim Holtz-designed stamps from Stampers' Anonymous to use for a class at the store next week.  The stamps arrived today, so I figured they needed to be broke in a little before the class and used them for my card tonight!

For more inspiration, check out the other Color Throwdown girls' blogs...

S'mores anyone?

We have some good friends that recently purchased a used pop-up camper, and they've decided that for their first camping adventure they're just going to go a little ways from home on Labor Day weekend.  They invited us to join them one evening for dinner, so I had been trying to think of some kind of "camper-warming" gift to take when we go to visit.  Well, the new Nature Calls and What's Your Sign stamp sets from My Favorite Things ended up being just the thing I needed to come up with my gift!

S'mores bag

Here is a gift bag filled with all the essentials for an evening around their campfire making S'mores!  What could be better for a "camper-warming" gift, and hopefully we'll get to eat S'mores, too!  YUM!

I stamped a row of trees across the bottom to match the card.  The trees are a little primitive-looking because the bag wouldn't lay flat, but hey... primitive is a part of camping, right?  (And a big reason why I don't like to go camping, if you know what I mean!)

For the card, I just made a card front, and we'll all sign the back.  I actually started working on the card last night and when I discovered Cindy's weekly sketch challenge in the My Favorite Things forum on SCS, I knew it would be perfect for my card!

S'mores bag close-up

Hopefully Don, Lisa and their kids will have many wonderful adventures in their "new" camper, and we'll all have some sticky, gooey-ness to help them enjoy it s'more!

Thanks for stopping by!

Color Throwdown #4

B694 It's time for another week of the Color Throwdown and this week Cathy chose our color combo of Certainly Celery, Almost Amethyst and Basic Black.  I had to bum a piece of Amost Amethyst from my BSF Anita, and then I started this card over so many times I ruined it and had to switch to a Bazzill cardstock that was a similar shade!  LOL  (Sorry 'Nita!)

CTD4-Lavender

This is such a striking color combination, and I really hope you'll have time to play along today!  Be sure to post a comment with a direct link to your card back on the Color Throwdown blog so we can see your creation.  And remember if you upload to SCS, use the keywords CTD4.

Each of the Color Throwdown designers have a very unique take on these colors, so be sure to check out their creations, too!

Tana is 2!

Tana's birthday card We just returned from my great-niece's 2nd birthday party!  Here's the card I made for her this afternoon.  It turned out exactly like the card in my head that I'd been thinking about all day, so I'm super happy with it!  I really loved mixing up the colors and patterns with this and just making it fun!

The letters spelling out her name are from the Playful Alphabet set from Kitchen Sink Stamps.  The #2 is from a set of chipboard numbers from Stampin' Up!  I covered it with modge podge, then applied the designer paper and applied another layer of modge podge.

I hope you like it, and hope you're having a great weekend!  Happy stamping!

Thanks from the tub...

Thanks for Kim Yesterday was the kick-off for the Dare to Get Dirty '08 challenges at SCS, so I created this card to combine the first 2 challenges.  I also used Cindy Haffner's weekly sketch challenge from the My Favorite Things forum for this design.

I'm running late this morning, so sorry for the short and sweet post!  If I had tried to upload this last night before I went to bed it would have been complete gibberish because my eyes were quite droopy!

Have a great day!  If you're a Fan Club member at SCS, don't forget to check out the rest of the Dirty challenes this week and join in the fun!

Stamp Simply #44 - Purple Flowers

Be Calm (I'm so sorry to be so late today with my card for Sharon's Stamp Simply challenge!  My computer has been giving me fits!)

The Stamp Simply Challenge for today is super-simple... use purple flowers in your creation!  That's all... just pretty, purple flowers!

I loved this challenge because it was a perfect excuse to use my new Annie LaPointe stamps from My Favorite Things!
Be Calm close-up
I colored my image with Copic markers, then added some bling on the flowers with my Spica clear glitter pen.  Sorry the picture isn't showing it better, but you might be able to get a better glimpse if you click on the picture!

You can check out Sharon's blog  for all the details, and see her great sample.  More samples for inspiration can be found on the other team members blogs, too...

A Get Well Hug

Cough and Sneeze This is one of the cards that my customers made this past week in stamp class at the store.  My class this month was simply to show customers lots of different, little details and/or embellishments that you can add to your card to make it unique or put it over-the-top.  Many customers had not ever tried Paper Piecing so I chose this set from My Favorite Things and the robe was stamped on the polka dotted side of some paper from My Mind's Eye.  Then we took it one step further and did Paper Tole on the collar, pockets and cuffs by stamping again on the solid side of the same MME paper.  These accents were adhered to the robe using small bits of foam tape.  For an embellishment on this card, we used Dew Drops from Robin's Nest.  These are such a fun little accent, and it's so great to be able to color them with a Copic marker to custom-match your design!  This card ended up being the most time-consuming because of all the cutting, but I think it was a favorite of many customers!  (And don't you just love my swirly ribbon that matches the "steam" from the bowl of soup?  I thought that was a pretty neat idea!)  :)

My week has been a little topsy-turvy so I didn't get a card done for the Sketches! by Tamara challenge today but I will hope to get to it tonight or tomorrow.  In the meantime, please check out the sketch and the cards the other designers have created!  It's a fun sketch with lots of possibilities!

Have a great day, and thanks for stopping by!

I'm Pullin' for You!

Pullin'Flopsy is part of some of the newest stamp sets from My Favorite Things.  Isn't he the cutest!  I got this set, and others at the store last week and my wheels just started turning with this set.  Gardener Flopsy is just a'tugging and pullin' on that carrot and look what he ended up pulling out of the ground?!?!

Pullin' (2)   He pulled TAFFY!  LOL  I just thought as long as he's doing all that pullin' I might as well make my card a Pull Card, and while we're at it, let's pull some taffy instead of carrots!  (Yeah, carrots are healthier, but oh that sweet gooey taffy!)

Pull Treat Cards are super easy to make and a lot of fun!  I did something similar with Trident gum years ago for swapping at Stampin' Up regionals.

I'm not sure yet who I might give this card to!  I think I'll just save it until the right occasion comes along (but not for too long... wouldn't want that taffy to go to waste!)

I sure hope you like my creation!  The wheels in my head have been turning for 2 days now with plans for this, and I'm so glad I finally got it done tonight!  Stay tuned for some more pullin' ideas!  And be sure to check back later in the day Thursday for my Sketches! by Tamara card!  Happy stamping!

No party is complete...

Party Hat ...without pretty party hats, right?  So, for the My Favorite Things Guest Designer contest, I decided to create a party hat birthday card!  The winner of this contest gets to be the guest designer for the month of August, so all my fingers and toes are crossed for this one!  I hope it's good enough!

For the card, I just cut a regular A2 sized card, then angled off each side to form the triangle.  My thinking was this way it would still fit into an A2 envelope!  Bwahahahaha!  Yeah, this is going to fit in a regular envelope???  This ends up being one of those cards that you just hand-deliver, right?!  I cut a piece of Cupcake Basic Grey DP and covered the front.  Stamped the candles from You take the Cake in Adirondack ink, then colored them with my Copics.  The sentiment is stamped in Colorbox Scarlet pigment ink, then heat embossed with clear powder.

I made the pom-pom for the top of the hat, and the fringe around the bottom by crimping red cardstock then cutting it into tiny slivers with my table-top cutter.  Then I made a little pile of the strips and tied tightly around the middle with string.  (A red Copic marker was used on the string so the white didn't show!)  I left the top pom-pom nice and big, and after attaching the smaller ones for fringe using red-line tape, I trimmed all the ends so they looked a little "tighter."

I attached the two triangles with a small brad at the top so the card swivels open.  The pom-pom is attached over the brad with a medium glue dot.

Party Hat-inside

I hope you like my card (and I hope the MFT people like it enough, too!)

Did everyone have a great 4th of July?  We had a really nice picnic with my Dad and my sister then came home and crashed.  I'm at work today, but unfortunately have been up since 4:00 a.m. with my daughter Kaylie who was busy being sick.  :(  She and hubby leave tomorrow for a mission trip to the Appalachian region in Kentucky so hopefully her yuckiness improves throughout the day.  She doesn't have much packing done, so guess what Mom will be doing after work today?

Have a great weekend!

Stamps:  You Take the Cake (My Favorite Things); Cardstock:  Watermelon, Squash (Bazzill), Confetti White (Stampin' Up!), designer paper (Cupcake by Basic Grey); Inks:  Adirondack Pitch Black (Ranger), Colorbox Scarlet pigment (Clearsnap) markers (Copic); Accessories:  clear embossing powder (Ranger), brad (Basic Grey), string (craft supply), crimper.
