Hi there! It's my Monday off from work, and I decided to start it out by making a card using Julee's Mojo Monday sketch! On her blog, Julee mentioned feeling like this sketch had a modern/Asian feel to it, so I took that idea, and the papers and cardstock left laying on my table from stamping last night, and ran with it!
My original plan was to use the Cherry Blossom branch stamp that I have from Impression Obsession to use for my class at the store tomorrow evening! That plan fizzled out when I realized the stamp is at the store, and not here at home! Gas costs too much to go get it, so on to Plan B! Use the cherry blossom-looking branch from Garden Silhouettes! Pulled that great retired set out (I'll never part with it!) and thought "Hey, look how much these flowers look like the 'Perhaps' paper!" Plan C... use this stamp instead!
I used Tombow marker #098 to color the leaves. Then I used #761 to color the flowers light pink, and dabbed just a little bit of #757 in the centers. Then I lightly misted the stamp with water before stamping! Bam! I LOVE how that turned out! Are there techniques that you never remember to use like that? That's the way it is for me, too! I mounted the white circle with dimensionals to a circle of (retired SU!) Mauve Mist, then mounted to a scalloped circle of Purely Pomegranate. My little green side panels were stamped with swirls from my Autumn Leaves stamps.
I pulled out two Old Olive brads for the ends of the center strip, and decided they were too small for the design. So I turned to these gorgeous antique brads that I've had for awhile, and thought these star-shaped ones went perfectly. Something about them even makes me think of those eleborate Chinese dragons! I stamped my sentiment (from Kitchen Sink Stamps) in Purely Pomegranate and embossed with clear embossing powder. I also sponged Old Olive ink around the designer paper edges.
This definitely gets my Mojo going for this Monday! I must go finish up card samples for my class at the store tomorrow night! Happy stamping!
Stamps: Garden Silhouettes (Stampin' Up!), Swirls v. 2 by Rhonna Farrer (Autumn Leaves), sentiment from Hearts & Roses (Kitchen Sink Stamps); Cardstock: Green Tea (Bazzill Basics), Old Olive, Purely Pomegranate, Mauve Mist (Stampin' Up!), white (The Paper Cut); Inks: Versamark (Tsukineko), Purely Pomegranate, Old Olive, Certainly Celery (Stampin' Up!), markers (Tombow); Accessories: antique brads (Making Memories), scalloped and standard circle Nestabilities (Spellbinders).
