It's time for another Color Inspiration Challenge from Kristina Werner! The colors to use this week are Pumpkin Pie, Bashful Blue, Brilliant Blue and Whisper White. For some reason, these colors seemed more sporty than flowery to me (they remind me of the colors the Cleveland Cavaliers used to wear!), so I reached for my Pink Cat Studio "Billy" stamps! (This is actually my hubby, Bill... he's my Super-Hero!) Now, I find it hard lately to make a card without using designer paper, so I shuffled through my piles and found this polka-dot paper that I thought was a great match with Pumpkin Pie!
My first instict with any circular sentiment like the "You're Super!" is to use a scalloped circle punch. However, scallops just don't seem to work for me with a boyish card, especially not with a super-hero! So I made my medallion behind the circle by punching out 4 squares with my 1 3/8" square punch and layering them! I think it turned out pretty cool!
I then thought that the other side of the card needed some super-embellishing also. So to create my zig-zag border, I pulled out my photo corner punch and punched out 6 of the smaller corners and glued them along the back edge of the cardstock! My orange stars were actually purple, but I pressed them into orange pigment ink, dipped them in clear embossing powder, and heat-set them! Voila'! Orange stars!
I hope you love my Billy-the-Hero card! It was fun to create!
Stamps: Billy (Pink Cat Studio); Cardstock: Brilliant Blue, Bashful Blue, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White (Stampin' Up!), designer paper (My Mind's Eye); Inks: Adirondack Pitch Black (Ranger), Brilliant Blue, Bashful Blue (Stampin' Up!), Colorbox Orange pigment (Clearsnap) markers (Copic); Accessories: 1 3/8" square punch, photo corner punch, 1 1/4" circle punch, 1 3/8" circle punch (Stampin' Up!), clear embossing powder (Ranger), star brads, blue ribbon (craft supply).
Thanks for visiting my blog today! (P.S. Headache is gone!) :)
Wow! I love everything about this card! The colors are great (blue & orange are my university's colors) and the blue ribbon you made is awesome! The pinking look is much more manly than scallops. Thanks for sharing!
