Hello everyone! I know I promised you all some picture of the things I made in classes last weekend, but I just haven't had the time to photograph and edit some of it. However, I was so pleased with how this particular project turned out that I pulled my camera out of my purse when I was finished and took the picture immediately! Now, not that this is anything totally spectactular but it's something that is so outside-the-box for me that I was pretty pleased with the final results. If anyone had tried to convince me before the class that I could work with these "artsy-fartsy" stamps (that's what I call them!) I would have said you were crazy!
For this project, we were used dye ink pads applied directly to watercolor paper. When the desired look was achieved on the paper, we then spritzed the whole thing with a water bottle until the colors ran together for the background. Then we simply used a variety of stamps to create a collage effect. I believe all the stamps were from Stampers' Anonymous but I'm not sure. We even used the ink pads to color the frames. My hands were covered in ink by the time I was done with that!
The circle on piece was actually added to cover up a little ooops. I had stamped a word in that bottom left corner, and it didn't look right amongst the "weeds" I had already stamped. So I stamped that girl on a scrap of my paper, and traced a water glass to make my circle! It was kinda' funny because after some people in the class saw that I had this circle on my piece, they were all hunting around asking "where'd she get the circle punch?" Guess I was using my noodle, huh?!
So now I'm in the mood to buy some "artsy-fartsy" stamps and try this look some more! If you recently won the lottery and want to help me do some shopping, give me a call! Thanks for stopping by!
P.S. This class was also so much fun because of the fabulous instructor that we had! Judy Ross is from Arizona and it was such a pleasure to have her teaching this class! She is nationally-known for her mixed media art, and is co-owner of a store in Glendale, Arizona called The Creative Quest. You want to see how much fun she was? Check out these pants she was wearing! (Click on the picture for a larger view!)
What a wonderful piece of art you have created here Tammy!! I'm going to give that technique a try and see what I can come up with.
Judy's pants are fantastic ... think we can make these for ourselves?? You could wear them to work ... right!!

My word, this is GORGEOUS!! I love the mixture of colors and design, but especially how that ribbon is tied around the framed art! So clever!
Those jeans are a total blast! It must have taken some time to create them, but who wants to hand wash a pair of jeans? LOL
