Stamp Simply #81 - The Incredible, Edible Egg!

Since Easter is fast approaching, Sharon thought we would have some fun this week and take a look at the traditional  Easter Egg for our Stamp Simply Challenge.  So let's try to contain eggs in our projects this week!  Could be a beautifully decorated Easter egg, eggs in a birds nest, or in a frying pan, or a 3-D project containing jelly bean eggs or chocolate eggs.  Let’s just get a bit *eggy* this week!!!  No other rules - but to have FUN!!!

For my card, I turned to Rebecca the Rabbit, whose hauling this wheelbarrow full of eggs off to be hidden in the grass!  She is so much fun to color!  This is a digital image from a design team that I was recently asked to join!  Take a moment and check out all the digital images available from Digital Stamp Oasis!  You'll love them all!

We are continuing to have a blast having Anne living with us and getting to know her better.  She's got a great sense of humor, and my daughters have both said many times "can we keep her?"  Anne and Kaylie have been shopping together, and today they got to go to Arby's for lunch (Anne's first new favorite of the day!) and this afternoon they stopped at Coldstone Creamery (Anne's second new favorite of the day!)  Tomorrow we're hoping for a rain-out with Kaylie's softball game so we can head to Cleveland to the Indoor Amusement Park!  Then a busy weekend, and we will help Anne get packed to head for Disney World on Monday with the marching band!

The Apple of My Eye

I'm working on several things right now that are not quite ready for blogging, so I thought I'd quickly share with you today this Stamping Bella card that I made at the store a few weeks ago.  I recently started carrying stamps from Stamping Bella, and this was a card I made for an in-store demonstration.  I just love this sweet Huggabugg with her bowl of apples!

Stamp Simply #79 (and a thank you for prayers)

For today's Stamp Simply challenge... You’ve Been Tabbed!  Today’s challenge is all about little bits of ribbon — ribbon TABS that is.  Rather than adorning our card with wrapped ribbon or bows, let’s just use a bit of ribbon and make ribbon tabs — wide, narrow, whatever — let’s just make sure we have at LEAST one ribbon tab on our project today.  Anything else goes!!  Let’s all show each other how much fun we can have with our little scraps of ribbon!!!   Anything you can do with a small piece of ribbon is what we’re after!  And the most important rule — HAVE FUN!!!

I ordered the cutest stamps for the store recently from Custer's Last Stamp!  They arrived today, and gosh darn if some of my paycheck didn't get spent on stamps again!  It's a wonder sometimes that I bring home any money at all!  I just could not resist Flossie here in her beach chair reading the latest gossip, nor Floyd laying there buried in the sand!

For my ribbon tabs, I used this fabulously-bright pink and orange gingham ribbon that I got from Sharon!  Inside my card says "I was tickled pink!  Thank you!"

I'd love to know what you think of my Flossie girl!

Many sincere thanks to all of you for your comments and prayers yesterday for the Grande family.  It was a very sobering day, and unless a miracle happens, it appears that it is God's will to take this young man home at an early age. The reports we have heard is that he has no brain activity, and has been kept alive on life support since arriving at an Akron hospital on Wednesday night until his mother and sister can fly in from Nevada. We also learned today that it was not the middle brother who shot him, but the youngest one who is in Kelsey's class. He's only 12. My girls are both devastated. This family is just your typical family that likes to hunt and shoot, and unfortunately are now suffering from a tragic accident. The entire student body at the high school is wearing camo to school tomorrow in support. The whole thing is made more difficult because the kids also want to celebrate how excited they are with the basketball team doing so well. Give your loved ones an extra big hug tonight for Nick, and continue praying for this family if you would please! Thanks!   (Friday, 7:25 a.m. edited to add... we learned early this morning that Nick passed away yesterday from his injuries.)

3-D Tuesday Challenge

Did you know that we recently started having a 3-D Challenge every Tuesday over at Paper Craft Planet?  Today is the 4th challenge, and I am the host!  For my challenge, I would like to see every one create these sweet little Scallop Patty Wrap Treat Boxes, originally designed by Cambria Turnbow!  I checked with Cami and she graciously gave me the OK to use her design for the challenge today!  I first made one of these little boxes last Christmas, and they're so easy, and fun you'll want to make a whole mess of 'em! 

 

Cami's original design calls for peppermint patties sandwiched between scalloped circles, as I have done here with this cute treat box for St. Patty's Day today!  It's fun to think up different ways to embellish your box!  When you look at Cami's sample, you'll see she cleverly used the round tab punch from Stampin' Up! on hers!  You can choose to scallop the edges, or leave them straight, too.

 

I also decided to make a box for Easter and instead of peppermint patties, I filled this one with chocolate eggs!  There are actually 14 little eggs in this one, so it'll hold a lot!

Check out Cami's great instructions on her blog, and give this a try!  Upload your basket to the gallery at Paper Craft Planet, and use 3d4 in your tag line.  Then leave a link in the 3-D Tuesday Group forum so we know to check out your creation!

I {heart} Digital Stamps!

I had so much fun with the digital Valentine card kit that was available on Paper Craft Planet last month that I decided to give some digital stamping a try!  I found this great Etsy shop called Digital Stamp Oasis and purchased a few of Ellie's great images to try.  (Actually, I discovered the images are drawn by her husband!)  These images printed easily from my computer, and I was able to color them with my Copic markers with ease!  If you're looking for something new to try, why not try purchasing some digital images!  It's like instant shopping gratification!  LOL

Stamp Simply #78 - White Mats

First of all, I have to start off with awesome news!  Remember this Eloise Greengrass card I made last week?  The card was for a challenge being held on the Stamping Bella blog.  Well, Emily drew a random participant from the challenge to win $50 in Bella Bucks, and I WON!  Check out her blog post here!  Guess you can tell that I'll be doing some Bella shopping this weekend!  Woo hoo!

Now, for today's Stamp Simply challenge from Sharon Johnson!  Here is the challenge, in Sharon's words...

"When I make a panel to put on a card, my natural instinct is to mat it in a dark color, either black or the darkest of the colors used on the panel.  However, I do love the fresh look of cards where the panels are matted in white.  So today we are matting, or framing, our panels in white for a fresh, clean and springy look. You MAY use multiple mats on a panel if you like, but at least ONE of them MUST be white.   That's it -- anything else goes!!!"

Once again, my friend Maria Gurnsey forced me to buy stamps!  This time, it was this Seasons of Trees set from H & M Stamps that I had to have!  I never met a tree stamp I didn't like, so when I saw Maria's cute card last week, I was hooked!

Poppy Bittybloom - PCP Sketch Challenge

It's Wednesday again, and that means its time to Throwdown another color challenge!  This week we're back to the top with LeAnne choosing our colors, and I'll tell you what... I love LeAnne dearly but she's trying to kill me with these colors!  LOL  This was such a struggle for me!  Yeah, yeah, yeah... I know!  That's what a challenge is for, right?!  OK, so you all better come up with something, too!  If I did it, then you can also!

I was actually thinking about (and dreading!) these colors while I was at work today and figured the best way to get the mojo going would be to buy new stamps!  So I grabbed Smells Like Cake! from my stamp department and bought it before I headed for home!  (I {heart} my employee discount!)  And here's what I came up with...

Kitchen Sink Monday - 02/16/09

It's Monday again, and you know what that means... more creations from the Kitchen Sink Crew!  This week we don't have a specific challenge, but just want to show you more of what you can do with these fabulous stamps!

For my project today, I turned to one of my most favorite sets, the 3-Step Butterfly!  I just love how beautiful those butterflies turn out after being stamped 1-2-3 times!  I also went with what is currently one of my favorite color combinations for my project!

Seeing "Fireproof" on Saturday night, our pastor's great sermon yesterday, and my weekly Bible studies have really got my mind spinning!  There are so many things I need to do differently in my life!  Do you ever feel that way?  Sometimes I think Jesus must just be shaking his head in wonder at the things I do.  So I decided that Jeremiah 29:11 is a verse I need to remember often!  I need to remember that God has a plan for my life, and I should work harder not to screw it up!

So, this frame will be prominently displayed on the dresser in my bedroom (just as soon as I give it a good dusting!) as a daily reminder to let God take the lead!

For my card, I decided to pull out my 3-Step Get Well Teddy bear stamp set from Kitchen Sink!  Instead of actual Real Red cardstock, I added some Bo Bunny Double Dot paper in red instead, 'cause you know I can't do anything without a bit of designer paper!
