Paper Craft Planet Sketch Challenge

The Sketch Challenge today on Paper Craft Planet is being hosted by ME, so I hope you'll play along!  This sketch is based on this card that I created a few days ago with my new stamps from Taylored Expressions, but for my official challenge card today, I turned the sketch on it's side and used my beautiful new Kitchen Sink Stamps Multi-Step Tulip Garden stamps instead!

My tulip is stamped in four steps, starting with a base of SU! Cameo Coral stamped second generation.  The next layer was stamped in Cameo Coral first generation.  The third layer is SU! Ruby Red, and the fourth layer is SU! Cranberry Crisp.  The leaves were stamped in three layers starting with SU! Gable Green stamped second generation, then Certainly Celery and then Old Olive.  After cutting out the image with a long rectangle Nestabilities, I sponged Blush Blossom ink around the edges while the cardstock was still in the die.

On a side note, would you please join me in giving thanks to God?  My daughter Kaylie, who as you all know is a new driver, was involved in an accident on her way home from softball practice yesterday.  She was on one of our country roads, and rear-ended a pick-up truck that was in front of her making a left turn.  She was pretty upset, but otherwise she and a friend that was with her were uninjured.  My mind will not stop wandering to what could have happened, and while we're pretty upset at her carelessness, I'm extremely grateful to be able to still wrap my arms around her today.  Praise be to God!

New Stamps!

I ordered new stamps last Friday from Taylored Expressions, and they arrived yesterday!  What else could I do but get them inky?  And I'll tell you what... if you've ever debated ordering from Taylor, don't debate anymore!  I ordered these stamps on Friday (on a new release day even!) and these stamps made it from California to Ohio in 5 days!  Talk about excellent customer service!  Taylored Expressions gets a gold star in my book today!

I pulled out some new Bloom & Grow paper from My Mind's Eye to complete this card, and just love how it turned out.  This is a favorite color combo for me, too!  I hope you like it!

Praise His Name

 Today it was Lori's turn to host the sketch challenge over at Paper Craft Planet, and I think she came up with a fabulous sketch!  It's a great one to use if you have a small image that you never know where to use.

While we're on the subject, have you been spending some time on the Planet?  Things that are new can always be tricky, but Susanna Boyd and the design team members have been working hard at changes that will make it easier to navigate.  There are so many great groups that you can join, where a lot of challenges are held, and the forums have been revamped.  If you haven't jetted over to the Planet in awhile, why not zoom over and check it out!  And if you've got questions or problems, speak up or let me know!  I'll do whatever I can to help!

I used a new set of stamps that I recently got from called Our Craft Lounge called In His Name.  This set has got some awesome sentiments for Easter and sympathy in the Scriptina font that I love.  There are also four beautiful crosses in the set, and a row of lilies to color.  You'll love this set for Easter cards and projects!

Bellarific Friday

I finally ordered some stamps from Stamping Bella about 6 weeks ago, and now I also carry them at the store so I've really been having fun using them, as you all have recently seen here on my blog!  It makes me wonder what took me so long to finally order them? 

I decided to participate in this week's Bellarific challenge on the Stamping Bella blog this week. The photo of a place setting was the inspiration for this weeks challenge, and OMGosh did I fall head-over-heels in love with those colors!  So here is my card...

I used Eloise Greengrass (love that name!) to create this Springy card, and kept the circular element with the plates as part of the design with my Nestabilities in the background.  I wasn't too sure about adding that green polka dot ribbon but I was trying to stay true to the colors in the photo and I think it ended up being the perfect accent on the card!  And the little Primas on top finished it off very nicely.  I'd love to know what you think!

I used some Angel Wings Shimmerz on Eloise's skirt but darned if you can see it in the picture!  Someday I've got to figure out how to photograph my cards and have details like that show up!

A little fun news... remember last week when I posted about how much I loved the new song "Revelation" from Third Day?  Well, this morning I had The Fish on the radio at work, and they had their Fish E-Trivia contest . "What do 20% of American workers admit to doing at least once a week?"  So, I cheated a little and Googled it, and found this answer... they're late to work.  To answer the trivia question and be entered in the contest, you had to email your answer and they'd pick one winner from all the correct entries.  Well, guess who won???  Yep, ME!  And guess what I won?  Third Day's new REVELATION CD!!!  Woo hoo!  I can't WAIT 'til it gets here!  I also won some McDonald's McCafe coffee coupons!  How fun is that?

Color Throwdown #31

It's week #31 of the Color Throwdown, and it's my turn again to chose the colors!  Sometimes when I see a color combo I like, I go into the Notepad feature on my phone and put the colors there for future reference.  So I noticed one day that this combo was in my notes, and decided to use it for the Throwdown.  I don't know where the inspiration came from, but hope you'll like the colors, too!  They'd be great for a more masculine card, which is what I did here!

This is Fergie-the-Frog from Stampendous, and I thought he'd look just fabulous in Kiwi Kiss with his giant lily pad!  I've seen this lily pad idea on other cards, so decided to give it a try today!  You can't tell from the photo, but I added some Angel Wings Shimmerz to the lily pad he's sitting on, too!

Impression Obsession Lilacs

I recently got some new stamps from Impression Obsession to use for a class at the store, so I used this pretty lilac and sentiment for a card today.  The design for this card is CASE'd from another card I made last summer.  I'm not usually one to use much purple, but I really love how this turned out.  I hope you like it, too!

50th Anniversary

My Aunt Phyllis and Uncle Gene will celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary on Valentine's Day.  My cousins are throwing a surprise party for them on Sunday, but unfortunately I won't be able to attend.  I did however promise my Mom that I'd send a card for her to give, and one from my family so I made these tonight.  I'll have to Priority Mail them in the morning so they get to her on time!

Kitchen Sink Monday

Welcome once again to Kitchen Sink Monday!  This week, Connie is our guest hostess and she got to choose our challenge.  She really put the Crew to the test... we had to create a Valentine using any of the fabulous flower stamp sets from Kitchen Sink Stamps, but NO RED OR PINK!  Yikes!  Not an easy task, but I think I accomplished it! 

As I was photographing this card, my hubby actually glanced at it and said "Whoa!" so I think this might actually end up being his Valentine next Saturday!  We have such a wonderful evening planned, and I can't wait for it to get here.  The Youth group at the church we've been attending sponsor a Valentine dinner, so we are signed up to go to that!  I'm not only looking forward to a nice dinner with my hubby but also the chance to get to know some more people from the church!  Then, after dinner they're showing the movie Fireproof!  I'm so anxious to see it!  I've heard that even if your marriage is strong and doesn't need "strengthening," it's definitely something everyone ought to see.  Thankfully, my husband and I have a pretty stong marriage but I still want this week to go by fast!
